HOME > CITY GUIDE > TOFAŞ MUSEUM OF ANATOLIAN CARS
Brought to life by restoring an old silk factory in Bursa’s Umurbey Neighborhood, the Tofaş Museum of Anatolian Cars is Turkey’s first and only museum dedicated to Anatolian vehicles. Featuring a rich collection that spans from the story of the wheel originating thousands of years ago to traditional wooden horse-drawn carriages and legendary classic cars produced by Tofaş, the museum offers visitors a nostalgic and highly enjoyable journey through time.
Located in the main building, this area displays historical wooden horse carriages and sleds from various regions of Anatolia, ranging from Balıkesir horse carriages to Manisa baltalı carriages. The technical details of wheel-making and period craftsmanship are explained in thorough detail.
The most popular section of the museum features the first production models of iconic Tofaş vehicles that left a mark on Turkish automotive history, including the Murat 124, Murat 131, Şahin, Doğan, Kartal, and Linea.
Situated within the complex, the historic Umurbey Hamam serves as the Tofaş Art Gallery, hosting temporary contemporary art and cultural exhibitions throughout the year.
Spanning a spacious 17-decare estate, the museum garden provides a perfect setting to relax after a museum tour, thanks to its dense trees, carefully maintained landscaping, and peaceful atmosphere.
Take a Photo in Front of Murat 124: Take a souvenir photo in front of “Hacı Murat”—the nostalgia icon of Turkey—and the earliest production Tofaş models.
Visit the Tofaş Art Gallery: Be sure to check out the periodic exhibitions inside the historic hamam building located in the museum garden.
Enjoy a Coffee Break in the Garden: Unwind with a cup of tea or coffee under the trees in the peaceful atmosphere of the museum’s botanical-like garden.
Mind the Monday Closure: The museum is closed on Mondays; plan your visit between Tuesday and Sunday.
Admission Status: Museum entry is generally free or available for a very nominal fee.
