Led by Chef Ömür Akkor, Zennup 1844 opened its doors at Eker Meydan in Bursa’s Nilüfer district, taking its name from Melceü’t-Tabbâhîn (“Refuge of Cooks”), the first Ottoman cookbook printed in 1844. Remaining faithful to original early-period Ottoman palace cuisine, Seljuk recipes, and forgotten Anatolian dishes, Zennup 1844 offers a rich menu ranging from stone-oven pitas to casseroles, making it much more than an ordinary restaurant—it stands as one of the most essential gastronomy stops during a Bursa visit.
Every dish on the Zennup 1844 menu stays true to original period recipes. Prepared using heirloom seeds, sour cherry-sweetened stuffed vine leaves, lamb casseroles, and aromatic stews served in copper cookware, traditional soups are crafted with care. Fresh stone-oven pitas, stews, and signature halva desserts stand out among the restaurant’s famous offerings.
Located inside the restaurant, this concept grocery section features heirloom seeds carefully collected from across Turkey, special cold-pressed olive oils, natural spice varieties, regional cheeses, and artisanal jams available for purchase.
